History
Maria Vinci and Gino Messina
The Messina – Vinci family
The origins
The story of the estate begins in 2010 when Alessia and Patrizio Messina found, in this very area of Maremma, a big oak tree and a swing dangling from a branch on one of the highest hillocks.
From this spot, the family saw for the first time the estate in all its beauty, even though it was semi-abandoned at the time. There was a ruined house, a small farmer’s school, an area covered in woods, countless hillocks, some abandoned fields and others used by neighbor farmers for grazing sheeps and, finally, the lake that, since it is a natural attraction for wild animals, had been used as a hunting reserve for decades.
In this wild and magical place, the Messina – Vinci family decided to give life to its project: a winery named after Maria Vinci, matron of the family and great wine lover.
The oak and the swing, the nature and the family that takes care of it, became the symbol of the estate because they truly mark the moment when it all began: from falling in love with the land to starting a family business.
